According to Sewuese Anene, Benue Police Public Relations Officer, the students were ambushed and taken captive at 5:30 pm while en route to Enugu for their annual convention.

In an exclusive telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday, Anene confirmed that an investigation is underway to rescue the abducted students and apprehend the perpetrators. However, she noted that no additional information was available at the time of filing this report.
