Abdulaziz, who claimed to have been present at two meetings between President Tinubu and labour leaders during minimum wage negotiations, insisted that there was no discussion of a fuel price hike in exchange for a minimum wage increase. He took to Twitter to dismiss the NLC’s allegations, stating that President Tinubu never made such a promise.

The NLC had accused President Tinubu of betraying the trust of Nigerians by increasing fuel prices despite a promise to maintain stable prices. The labour union claimed that an important condition for accepting the N70,000 national minimum wage was a guarantee that fuel prices would not be increased.
