Tragedy Strikes in Taraba: Gunmen Kill 7, Including School Principal, in Brutal Ambush.

A devastating attack occurred along the Takum-Wukari Road in Taraba State, resulting in the loss of at least seven lives, including a school principal, Mr. Samuel Mbapuun, and a driver. The victims were traveling when gunmen, suspected to be bandits, emerged from the bush, armed with guns and machetes, and targeted the travelers.

The principal, who had recently been transferred to Ibi local government area, was among those killed in the assault. A woman and a baby were spared, but nearby farmers working in the area were also attacked.

In a separate incident, three individuals were lynched by irate youths in Takum town, allegedly in retaliation for the attack on the travelers. The incident has heightened tensions in the region, prompting calls for increased security measures.

Eyewitnesses described the attack as brutal, with the bandits using machetes and guns to attack the travelers. A farmer, Mr. Iorapuu Pila, who was injured in the attack, recounted the incident, stating that the bandits emerged from the forest and attacked the vehicle conveying passengers from Takum to Wukari.

The Taraba State Police Command has confirmed the incident and is working to restore calm in the area. The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Gambo Kwache, assured that the situation is under control.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety and security of travelers in the region, with many calling for increased measures to protect lives and property.
