Terrorists Ambush Security Convoy in Zamfara, Killing 5 Policemen and 3 Soldiers; Military Retaliates
Terrorist Ambush in Zamfara Leaves 8 Security Personnel Dead, Military Strikes Back.
A devastating attack on Thursday morning in Zamfara State’s Tsafe Local Government Area has claimed the lives of five police officers and three soldiers. The security personnel were escorting workers of Setraco Nigeria Limited, a construction company, when terrorists ambushed them, sparking a deadly shootout.
A military source confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters, revealing that a swift response from the Army saved other security personnel attached to the construction workers. However, several terrorists escaped with stolen weapons from the deceased security personnel.
The source disclosed that the troops were escorting Setraco workers when they encountered the ambush, resulting in the loss of eight security personnel. The Army promptly reinforced and engaged the terrorists in a gun battle, killing many of the attackers. Police have since evacuated the bodies of both the personnel and the terrorists.
This tragic incident follows a similar attack on the Gusau-Funtua highway in Zamfara State, where terrorists abducted an unspecified number of travelers. The State Police Command has deployed personnel to the scene and is working to determine the exact number of kidnapped victims.
The recurring attacks in Zamfara State have raised concerns about the safety and security of civilians and security personnel in the region.
