The Secret Shipment: Army Officer Arrested with 485 Rounds of Ammunition in Dry Fish Cartons
Nigerian Soldier Arrested with 485 Rounds of Ammunition Hidden in Dry Fish Cartons.
In a shocking discovery, Sergeant Saad Adamu, a Nigerian soldier with service number 05NA/56/385, has been apprehended for alleged possession of illegal ammunition in Borno State. According to a military signal obtained by SaharaReporters, Adamu was found with 485 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and two magazines concealed in cartons of dry fish at a checkpoint in Njimtilo, along the Damaturu-Maiduguri Road.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Adamu, who was attached to a unit in Jos, had traveled to Maiduguri without authorization for his illicit activities. He confessed to collecting the ammunition from Sergeant Dalhatu Murtala, the armourer of 19 Brigade Garrison.
The seized items include 313 rounds of 7.62mm packet ammunition, 172 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and two magazines hidden inside a Bagco bag mixed with cucumber and cartons of dry fish. The suspects and recovered items are in custody for further action.
This incident raises concerns about the proliferation of illegal ammunition and the involvement of military personnel in nefarious activities.
