EFCC Cracks Down on Cybercrime, Arrests 46 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Warri.
In a bold move to combat internet fraud, operatives from the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested 46 suspected internet fraudsters in Warri, Delta State, on Sunday, September 8, 2024.
The arrests were made possible by credible intelligence gathered on the suspects’ alleged involvement in internet-related fraud. EFCC agents swooped in on various locations within Warri, apprehending the suspects and confiscating items believed to be proceeds of their illicit activities.
Among the items recovered were 13 exotic cars, laptops, and phones. The suspects are currently being held for questioning, and will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
This latest crackdown on cybercrime underscores the EFCC’s commitment to tackling the growing menace of internet fraud in Nigeria. As the agency continues to intensify its efforts, those engaging in such illicit activities are warned to desist or face the full weight of the law.
