Yobe Police Officer in Custody for Allegedly Stabbing Man to Death Over N200

Police Inspector Arrested for Fatal Stabbing Over N200 Bribe in Yobe.

A shocking incident in Yobe State has led to the arrest of Inspector Mohammed Bulama, attached to the Police Mobile Force, 41 Division in Damaturu. Bulama allegedly stabbed 39-year-old Abdulmalik Dauda to death over a N200 bribe.

The Incident

The fatal altercation occurred on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at CMC Area, Zango, Damaturu, during a heated argument between Bulama and Dauda. According to sources, Bulama demanded N200 from Dauda, who refused, leading to the officer assaulting him with a knife, inflicting fatal wounds to the neck and chest.

Police Response

The State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident and stated that Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Ahmed, has ordered an immediate investigation. Bulama was promptly arrested at the ‘C’ Divisional Police Headquarters and is currently in custody pending internal disciplinary action and prosecution.

CP Garba Ahmed condemned Bulama’s actions and expressed condolences to Dauda’s family, assuring the public of a thorough and swift investigation to ensure justice is served. The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to holding personnel accountable for any misconduct.
