Zamfara Village Under Attack: Bandits Kidnap Over 10 Residents, Including Patient
A daring raid by bandits on Matusji village in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State has left residents reeling after over 10 people were kidnapped in the early hours of Friday.
According to eyewitness Ahmad Babangida, the bandits, armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the community at around 2:30 am, unleashing a hail of bullets that sent villagers fleeing for their lives.
“We were all asleep, but the heavy gunfire jolted us awake, and everyone started running,” Babangida recounted, still shaken by the ordeal.
While no fatalities were reported, the bandits made off with multiple villagers, including a patient who was still receiving medical treatment and attached to an IV drip.
The whereabouts of the kidnapped victims remain unknown, with the bandits yet to make any demands or contact the families.
Security sources report a concerning lack of response from security operatives during the attack, raising questions about the effectiveness of law enforcement in the region.
ASP Yazeed Abubakar, the State police spokesman, confirmed the incident, stating that 10 persons were abducted by the bandits. He assured that tactical police teams have been deployed to rescue the kidnapped victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
